Their story began at St. Brenden High School in 2015 during their Junior Journey retreat. In typical Ida fashion, she was crying over a commercial about old people and AJ came up to comfort her. Little did he know that this is something he would be doing 10+ years down the line. That simple gesture turned into hours of talking, and before long they realized how much they had in common—their love for the Keys, fishing, and being outdoors.

From their first date- getting frozen yogurt to meeting each other’s families, there have been many unforgettable moments.

During AJ’s second encounter with Ida's family, her dad jokingly asked him if he was going to marry his daughter. The joke landed—because deep down, they both knew it wasn’t really a joke at all.
